Develop accurate public “hard bid”, private negotiated, and conceptual project cost estimates and competitive bids; identify value opportunities; and collaborate with teams and clients to ensure profitability, quality, and safety.

Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and analyze drawings, plans, and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates
- Prepare competitive bids and proposals with clear scopes, clarifications, and assumptions
- Conduct site visits and quantity takeoffs to validate means, methods, and production rates
- Identify and recommend value engineering and cost-saving alternatives without compromising safety or quality
- Build and maintain vendor/subcontractor relationships; solicit and level quotes; negotiate pricing and terms
- Maintain historical cost databases and benchmarking for labor, materials, and equipment
- Track actuals versus estimates and prepare cost reports/forecasts for handoff to project teams
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Superintendents, and clients to address scope gaps and design changes
Must‑Have Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 5–10 years of construction estimating experience on commercial/industrial projects over $3.0M
- Experience estimating self-perform work and reviewing plans/specifications
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with quantity takeoff and estimating tools
- Collaborative communication style with internal teams, clients, vendors, and subcontractors
- Ability to perform site visits; ability to lift up to 25 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing bids and negotiating with vendors/subcontractors
- Familiarity with specialized projects and alternative delivery (e.g., design-build, GMP)
- Proficiency with estimating and collaboration software (e.g., CostOS-verify with Dan, Bluebeam)
