Construction Update: August 20, 2017

Burke Hall and the Denison Museum will remain open during normal hours throughout construction. Signage is in place to direct visitors to the College Street entrances. College Street will be closed until further notice. The sidewalk on the north side of West Broadway will remain closed as well.  Please use the walk on the south side of West Broadway. To enable the public to view the construction progress, a section of the fence screening along the southeast side of the construction fence has been removed.

We are preparing to pour the slab on grade concrete in the basement throughout the week of August 21, 2017. Due to the high temperatures this time of year, the concrete pours will be commence at 6:00 AM to facilitate a quality finish and avoid complications with the hot weather. As our mass excavation moves north towards College Street, heavy truck traffic will continue.

The tower crane has been occupied with the completion of the masonry bearing walls and erection of the lower level structural steel.

The renovation of the Recital Hall and Instrument Rehearsal space in Burke Hall will be complete to accommodate the return of students. We are finishing the hard wood floor on the recital stage and completing the state-of-the-art theatrical lighting system. The new carpet, reupholstered seating, and a fresh coat of paint have really enhanced the appearance of the performance spaces in Burke Hall.
