Construction Update: October 23, 2017

Burke Hall and the Denison Museum will remain open during construction.  Signage is in place to direct visitors from the College Street entrances. College Street is closed to vehicular traffic but is open to pedestrian traffic. The sidewalk on the north side of Broadway will remain closed throughout the project.  Please use the walk on the south side of West Broadway. To enable the public to view the construction progress, a section of the fence screening along the east end of the southern construction fence has been removed.

We are still expecting heavy truck traffic on the north side of the project (College Street). Foundations and foundation walls for the future Dance Hall along the northern perimeter of the building are underway.  There will be multiple concrete trucks in this area.  Please be cautious during the morning and early afternoon hours.

The tower crane has been kept busy with the 54′-0” tall masonry walls for the Stage House & erection of the Audience Chamber structural steel.  The first floor beneath the Audience Seating and above the Basement has been poured. The southern side of the Stage House walls will become visible the week of October 23, 2017.

The transformer vault has been installed and the secondary electrical infrastructure from the vault to the building is in process. The initial coat of paint on the Basement walls is nearly complete and plumbing and mechanical contractors are installing pipe and pipe hangers.

The heavy construction traffic has been an inconvenience for the entire community. We appreciate the understanding and patience exhibited by the Village of Granville and Denison University. If there are any questions or concerns please email Daniel Moore at [email protected].
