This unique project included building a scrubber and environmental cleaning system. The project’s construction and installation utilized over 1,200 cubic yards of foundation concrete and more than 150 tons of structural steel to support 10’ diameter duct work installed above an existing plant that remained operational throughout the construction.

Robertson has served as a Design-Builder and General Contractor for numerous projects within Kaiser Aluminum’s twenty-six acre facility. On average, we complete six to twelve projects a year. Projects have included: truss re-builds, new furnace construction and re-builds, new machine foundations – some extending over thirty feet into the ground, process piping and infrastructure installation and repair.

Robertson served as the General Contractor for this state-of-the-art plant expansion. The scope of work included the removal of the existing loading dock area and the development of new site infrastructure with concrete retaining walls and substantial fill for the building pad. The expansion consisted of 60-foot clear span casting bays with new molten aluminum furnaces and casting machines, nearly 1,000 linear feet of utility and drainage trenches cast into an eight inch thick, FF50 concrete floor, a new “open air” process cooling system with a sub-slab, 1,200-gallon concrete tank, complete with submersible pumps and water level controls.

Robertson served as the General Contractor for the Covestro (Bayer Material Science) project. The scope of the new construction included new staff offices, new and renovated laboratory facilities, and a new product showroom.

The manufacturing and office facility was built for Cabot Thin Films, a large producer of Tantalum ingots for resale to specialized clients. This building features sloped truck docks, a precast concrete panel façade and access to major traffic corridors.

As the Design-Builder, we designed and constructed a New Aluminum Press Building for the Magnode Corporation. The 47,000 square foot Aluminum Press Building is 40’ tall and contains a large pit system for the press equipment, several mechanical trenches and two overhead cranes. It is equipped with loading docks, raw material loading conveyors and is expandable to 90,000 square feet.

As the Design-Builder, Robertson constructed the 67,000 square foot, precast concrete panel speculative building with a large, clear span structure to provide open areas for manufacturing and warehousing operations. We used our own workforce to place concrete, fabricate and erect structural and miscellaneous steel.

On the campus of the Central Ohio Aerospace and Technology Center, Robertson built the Horton Building for the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority. The two-story office and clean room complex was designed and constructed to achieve LEED Silver certification by the United States Green Building Council. The facility contains commercial office space and is equipped with an ISO Class 7 clean room and amenities to accommodate up to four additional clean room modules.

As the Design-Builder, Robertson completed three built-to-suit and speculative industrial facilities for the Heath-Newark Licking County Port Authority. Two of the facilities are pre-engineered metal buildings and the Mistras Building utilized precast panel construction. All three facilities are clear-span structures to provide large, open areas to house manufacturing and warehousing operations.

Robertson served as the Design-Builder on the American Electric Power industrial truck storage facility. This LEED certified project included both electrical and HVAC automated systems.
